Our mission is to promote health and well-being among adolescent girls and young women in Jinja - Uganda.

MAKEXAFRICA is a women-led Uganda CBO working with adolescent girls and young women championing solutions against teenage pregnancy, early marriage, gender-based-violence, harmful cultural norms, malnutrition, unsafe water, poor hygiene & sanitation, and promoting entrepreneurship in Jinja Uganda.  

We consult adolescent girls and young women on what their challenges are and what they propose as solutions to guide the design and implementation of our projects.

Gaining self-esteem! Saying NO to unwanted (early/unsafe) sex! Choosing modern family planning! Reporting Gender-Based-Violence and harmful cultural practices, acquiring entrepreneurial skills, better hygiene & sanitation, and practicing home-based nutrition.

Our Community Approach

To sustainably tackle gender-based-violence, improve hygiene & sanitation, tackle harmful-cultural practices and malnutrition, we ask adolescent girls and young women in Jinja Uganda to suggest what needs to be done. We use their feedback to design and implement our community projects.
